He is the Gift That Keeps on Giving!
Some of us have been counting.
We have been counting fifty days
from Jesus' resurrection.
And guess what?
We made it. Today day fifty.
It's Pentecost...also known as the Feast of Weeks or Shavuot.
This count is not a tradition of man,
but are the words of God Himself.
(More on that...click here.)
Historically, Pentecost is a day of God's provision.
Not only did God give
physical provision
through the wheat harvest (Lev 23),
but The Lord also gave the
spiritual provision of Himself!
He gave us Himself through the
GIVING of HIS WORD (Exo 19)
and the
GIVING of HIS SPIRIT (Acts 2)
All on this, on the same exact day.
Not a coincidence.
This is definitely something to celebrate!
If The Lord is in a special posture of giving on Pentecost.
than we should be in special posture of thanksgiving and receiving from our Jehovah Jireh,
The Lord Our Provider.
Providing for our physical and spiritual needs were not just for
the people in the Bible, they are for His children today.
He desires to give us more of Himself,
especially now at Pentecost.
May we ask Him for a fresh revelation from His Word
and a fresh filling of His Spirit and receive it in faith.
He is truly the gift that keeps on giving!
“And so I tell you, keep on asking and
you will receive what you ask for.
Keep on seeking and you will find.
Keep on knocking and the door
will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives.
Everyone who seeks, finds.
And to everyone who knocks,
the door will be opened.
You fathers, if your children ask for a fish,
do you give them a snake instead?
Or if they ask for an egg,
do you give them a scorpion?
Of course not!
So if you sinful people know how
to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
